tonight, in the consumption range 21:00-23:00, the power system of the Republic of Moldova will face a estimated deficit of electricity . For 21:00 – 22:00 a commercial deficit of approx 74 MWh , and for 22:00 – 23:00 of approx 56 MWh.

the entire region is experiencing the effects of the heat wave. Electricity consumption has increased considerably, while production is also affected by weather conditions. The very low flow of the Danube reduces the ability of several power plants to operate at normal parameters, as the water is essential for cooling the installations. The Republic of Moldova is part of the regional energy market and depends on imports, so when there is a deficit in the region, it also influences the amounts of energy we can procure.

Until the closing of the energy markets, the authorities and system operators took all possible steps to procure the necessary energy. Thus, Moldelectrica will use breakdown energy mechanisms to maintain the stable operation of the power system.

The authorities are making every effort to ensure the necessary energy for the Republic of Moldova and will also use emergency energy mechanisms to maintain the stability of the system. However, tonight, voluntary consumption reduction by each of us can make a difference. Together we can reduce the pressure on the system and limit the need for additional measures that can be even more expensive.

How citizens can contribute (21:00-23:00):
- turn off the lights and electrical appliances you are not using;
- postpone the use of washing machines, dryers, electric ovens and other appliances with high consumption;
- limit the use of air conditioners to what is strictly necessary;
- if possible, avoid using elevators.

Citizens are also urged to take minimum preparation measures for possible temporary power outages , including providing alternative sources of lighting, charging mobile devices and avoiding the use of electrical equipment in such risky conditions.

We remind you that, by the Decision of the National Crisis Management Commission of August 3, 2026, were approved measures to reduce electricity consumption, applicable to administrators of public buildings and commercial spaces; enterprises with energy-intensive production processes; operators of water supply and sewage services; central and local public authorities; as well as administrators of residential blocks and buildings equipped with elevators. The measures can be consulted here:  https://cnmc. gov. md/sites/default/files/Decizie_CNMC_3_copie. pdf

Every kilowatt-hour saved helps reduce pressure on the system and helps maintain electricity supplies for the entire country.

Essential services will continue to operate as normal. Medical institutions, emergency services, critical infrastructure and other indispensable services for the population benefit from the necessary measures to ensure the continuity of activity.

The authorities and energy system operators are constantly monitoring the situation and making every effort to reduce the impact on consumers.
